Noida: On Monday night, the police of Jewar police station in Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh arrested two persons for smuggling liquor on the basis of a tip-off. Inspector Umesh Bahadur Singh, in-charge of police station Jewar said that on the basis of confidential information, police arrested two persons named Rinku and Ajay on charges of smuggling liquor. He said that 4 boxes of Haryana Marka liquor have been recovered from the accused. Meanwhile, in view of the assembly elections in the state, the police took strict action against those selling liquor and narcotics and possessing illegal weapons.
Under this, the police arrested a dozen people on charges of smuggling liquor from different places in Noida and recovered a huge quantity of liquor from them. Police’s media in-charge Pankaj Kumar told that the police of Police Station Sector 58 arrested four persons named Rahul, Ravi, Surendra, and Rajkumar from near Thapar Gate on Tuesday morning for selling liquor illegally. The accused were carrying 32 boxes of Haryana Marka liquor in a Honda City car.

Police said that a country-made pistol was also recovered from the accused. During interrogation, the police came to know that the accused were indulging in the business of selling liquor illegally for a long time. In reference to another incident, the police said that on the basis of information received by the Police Station Sector 24, on Tuesday morning, three persons were arrested on the charge of smuggling liquor and recovered 22 boxes of Haryana Marka liquor.
Apart from this, three persons named Ravi Kumar, Sukel and Karan were arrested from near 12/22 intersection for selling liquor illegally, the media in-charge said. The accused were carrying 22 boxes of liquor in an auto rickshaw. (agency)
