Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday released the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022. It has been named ‘Samajwadi Vachan Patra’, with a tag line ‘Satya Vachan, Unbreakable Promise’.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav said, “I remember when SP released its manifesto in 2012 and then when we formed the government, we held meetings of all departments related to various promises and fulfilled all those promises.” With ‘Satya Vachan, Unbreakable Promise’, we are going to the people with this document in the form of manifesto for 2022.”
Yadav said that in four years by 2025, all farmers would be made ‘debt-free’ and a ‘debt-free’ law would be enacted, which would benefit most of the poor farmers.
“MSP will be given for all crops and sugarcane farmers will get payment in 15 days and if required a fund will be created for this,” he said.
He said that free electricity, interest free loan, insurance and pension would be provided to all the farmers for irrigation. He said that the Urban Employment Guarantee Act will be brought on the lines of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The former Chief Minister said that 33 percent reservation will be given to women in government jobs including in the police department.
The manifesto also promised free education for girls from primary classes to postgraduate (KG to PG). Also, a ‘Kanya Vidya Dhan’ scheme will be re-launched, under which girls who clear class 12 board exams will get a lump sum amount of Rs 36,000.
Yadav said the ‘Samajwadi Pension’ would be reintroduced, under which elderly people, needy women and families below the poverty level (BPL) would get Rs 18,000 every year. He further added, “It will benefit about one crore families.”
In addition, the manifesto states that socialist canteens and ‘kirana’ (groceries) stores will be set up, where poor labourers, masons and destitute will get ration and other essentials at subsidized rates. This canteen will provide ‘Samajwadi Thali’ for Rs.10. The aim of this scheme is to end the problem of hunger in the state, the SP president said.
The manifesto states that a helpline number – ‘1890 Mazdoor Bijli Line’ will be started for the migrant laborers of the state.
