Siddharthnagar: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has claimed that Encephalitis has been completely eradicated from the state. He said on Saturday that his government would not allow any such communicable disease to survive in the state. Yogi, while launching a special communicable disease control campaign in Lucknow, said that the efforts made during the last five years for effective prevention of infectious diseases in Uttar Pradesh have yielded good results, but there is no need to take this effort further. needed.
Referring to encephalitis i.e. meningitis, he said that encephalitis used to be a curse of this region. Citing statistics, he said that there was a long chain of death every year from 1977 to 2017 due to encephalitis and only in eastern Uttar Pradesh, two-three thousand deaths were caused every year due to this disease.

The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the State Government geared up against encephalitis and started working in collaboration with organizations like World Health Organization through Swachh Bharat Mission and many other campaigns. Those who used to give only assurances in 40 years and could not do anything, we have succeeded in completely eliminating encephalitis in four to five years.” The Chief Minister said, “Our ancestors used to say one thing that prevention of disease is more important than its treatment. This awareness program which is just starting is a means to prepare all of us for the same rescue.”
He said that if you join with it, whether it is meningitis, dengue, chikungunya or kala-azar, all these will be resolved. The Chief Minister said that a resolution has been taken to completely eradicate not only Filariasis but also Tuberculosis that we will not allow this type of diseases to survive anywhere on the soil of Uttar Pradesh. Referring to the health facilities of the state, he said that when it comes to health, Uttar Pradesh also has the record of setting up maximum number of medical colleges in five years.
The Chief Minister said that we have also completed the construction of a medical college in the memory of Shri Madhav Prasad Tripathi, the holy place of Mahatma Buddha in Siddharthanagar and the students of the first semester have enrolled here. He said that 17 to 18 new medical colleges would be started within the next one year so that people would get specialist health facilities in the state.
