Union Minister of Electronics, Information Technology, Communications and Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad today announced the results of the huge challenge competition organized to develop video conference solutions.
Announcing the winners, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that I am very happy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “Self-reliant India” Indian entrepreneurs and innovators have come up with a world-class video conferencing solution in a very short time span of four months in response to the call of. We are committed to developing India’s software products and mobile app economy on a large scale and this competition is a major step in this direction.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced on 12 April an Innovation Challenge competition to develop a video conference solution under the Digital India initiative. Experts could participate in this competition from industry, startups and individually. The competition received unprecedented support from across the country and a total of 1983 applications were received. These applications were evaluated and encouraged by a three-stage idea, design and product-level process.
Out of the total applications, 12 applicants presenting innovation video conference solutions were selected to create the format and each selected applicant was given the assistance of Rs 10 lakh. The developed format was judged by an eminent judging committee consisting of senior government officials, eminent academy members and eminent representatives of the information technology industry.
This Judging Committee selected 5 applicants to produce the finished product to hit the market. Out of these five applicants selected for counselling, testing and inclusion in the NIC cloud, three applicants have given Rs 20-20 lakh and two applicants were given financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh each. The industry, academy members and government experts involved in the judging committee and consultant provided free support to the applicants during this period. The final five challengers presented their solutions. After this, the Judging Committee announced the names of the winners after assessing them in detail.
The Judging Committee declared the Product Weeknsol of TechGenesia Software Technology Pvt Ltd based at Allapuzha (Kerala) as the winner. The winner will be given financial assistance of 1 crore rupees. Along with this, 10 lakh rupees will also be provided for operation and care in the next three years. The government will include this product for use by a contract.
The judging committee has also selected the products developed by the three applicants as potential products. Under this, a development contract proposal and Rs 25 lakh will be provided to further develop the product over a period of three months. The technical committee will further assess these three products and then recommend the Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology to include the selected four products in GEM.
Following is the description of these three products:
- Sarva Web Private Limited (Sarva Web), Jaipur
- Peoplelink Unified Communication Private Limited (Insta VC), Hyderabad
- Install Softlabs Private Limited (Hydramite), Chennai
All these video conference products will also be supported by STQC, CERT-IN, CDAC and NIC. All four of these products have been recommended for use on the NIC cloud and NIC will facilitate the adoption of these products by the GEM in government. All teams including the winner will be free to trade their product worldwide.
This entire process was completed by the active participation of the best experts working as consultants and members of the Judging Committee. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in this regard including President of NASSCOM Debjani Ghosh, Saurabh Srivastava of Indian Angel Network, Sharad Sharma of IISPIRIT, Dr. Rajat Moona from IIT Bhilai, Professor Shantanu Chaudhary from IIT Jodhpur, Professor Yatindra Nath Singh from IIT Kanpur Thanked the senior officers of the Ministry.
