Jammu: Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that the people of the country have full faith in the decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the former critics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) want to join the party to secure their political future.
The minister said that in the last several decades, the Modi government has put an end to discrimination against different regions of Jammu and Kashmir. “Those who were criticizing our party are eagerly waiting to raise our party’s flag today and those who did not get a chance are upset,” Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Kathua district.

He said that after the Modi-led government took over the reins of the country, the decades-old discrimination against different regions of Jammu and Kashmir ended. “The people who are complaining (about governance) today are those who have been in power for the last 40 or 50 years,” Singh, minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office, said.
Praising the role of the Prime Minister in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister said that the way he (Modi) led a country with a population of 135 crores is accepted all over the world. He said, “The people of the country have full faith in the decisions of their Prime Minister. They too have full faith in the public.”
On senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s remark that the autocratic rule of the Maharajas was far better than the present government, Singh said the question here is whether he wants democracy or not. Regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, the minister said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly clarified that statehood will be restored at an appropriate time.
