Washim. Preparation for Kharif season has started in the district. In this season, Agriculture Department has started Village Seed Production Program so that farmers can use maximum soybean seeds at home. Under this program, 27 thousand 286 farmers of the district have prepared 3 lakh 28 thousand 815 quintal soybean seeds.
In this season, the Agriculture Department has planned to sow soybean crop in 3 lakh 27 thousand 373 hectare area. According to 75 kg per hectare in the planned area, 2 lakh 45 thousand quintal soybean will be required. As per the rate of change per year, farmers are required to use 33 percent market seeds out of the total required seeds.
Due to which 81 thousand quintal seeds are likely to be purchased by the farmers this time. Therefore, according to the evidence, 1 lakh 65 thousand quintal seeds should be from the house. Under the Village Seed Production Program being run by the Agriculture Department, 28 thousand 286 farmers have processed domestic soybean and kept 3 lakh 28 thousand 815 quintal seeds for Kharif.
three times germination test
Farmers need to test the germination capacity of house seeds. Farmers should do this process three times. This requires the first germination test after soybean extraction, the second in March, and then the third after May or before sowing.
Mahabeej will provide soybean seeds
This time also seeds are being prepared by Mahabeej. The farmers of the district have kept the seeds at home this time. Therefore, in view of the possible shortage of seeds in the private sector, Mahabeej also planned to provide 20 thousand quintal quality soybean seeds in Washim district.
Farmers’ preparation
Farmers have also prepared seeds with them. In which 4,000 farmers of Washim tehsil have prepared 66,200 quintal seeds. 2,660 farmers of Karanja have prepared 52,450 quintals of seeds, 7,310 farmers of Mangrulpeer tehsil have kept 52,180 quintals of seeds, 8,636 farmers of Malegaon tehsil 62,385 quintals of seeds, 3,539 farmers of Risod tehsil 62,500 quintals of seeds, 2,142 farmers of Manora have kept 33,100 quintals of seeds ready .
In this context, Agriculture Superintendent Shankar Totawar told that, for the coming Kharif season, farmers have emphasized on more use of homemade soybean seeds. In view of the possible situation, 28 thousand 286 farmers of the district have kept 3 lakh 28 thousand 815 quintal seeds under the village seed production program being run by the Agriculture Department.
