Facebook said on Thursday that it has temporarily eased rules related to its violent speech due to the attack on Ukraine. This means that there will be no action from any social media platform for writing words or sentences like ‘Death to Russian invaders’ on Facebook.
Moscow has not only been criticized around the world for its military crackdown on its neighbour, but is also facing severe sanctions from Western governments and business organizations. Along with this, resentment against him is also increasing on social media platforms.
Facebook’s parent company Meta said in a statement, “Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we have temporarily relaxed certain rules for political expression, which typically include violent speech such as ‘the death of the Russian invaders’, our It’s against the rules.”
It added, “But we still will not allow violent speech against Russian citizens.
Facebook made its statement citing the firm’s emails to its content moderators following a Reuters report that said the policy was in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and applies to Ukraine.
