The Iranians who imprisoned Barry Rosen put a rifle on their ears and said they had 10 seconds to accept that he was a spy. As the countdown began, New York resident Barry Rosen was confused. There were two ways in front of them, either to prove themselves to be traitors for their country or to leave their children without a father.
77-year-old Barry said that after counting to five, I signed a false confession, for which I am completely embarrassed. He revealed this while talking with Richard Ratcliffe. Richard’s wife Nazneen Jaghari-Ratcliffe was also imprisoned and falsely accused of espionage by the Iranian regime.
Richard fighting for Nazneen
Barry, who was imprisoned for 444 days after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, said that I can never forget what he did to me. I know that what he did with Nazneen would also affect his life and his relationship with her husband and daughter. Nazneen has given me many bad experiences. Richard’s fight for his release was a real adventure.
Richard thanked Barry for the emotional support he received. He said that it is very important for me. I have shared experiences with the families of Barry and other current prisoners. On 4 November 1979, Barry was imprisoned by Iran’s revolutionaries along with 66 Americans, known as the ‘Iran Hostage Crisis’.
Slogans of ‘Death to America’ at the embassy gate
While working as a ‘press attachment’ for the US embassy in Tehran, Barry listened to the crowd at the gate, ‘Death to America’, armed with guns and clubs, and a 200-strong gang of Americans with photographs of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini. Imprisoned inside. Barry was tortured during the next 14 months.
He said that I used to wake up in my jail. All the guards were wearing black clothes. They pointed the gun at my head and pressed the trigger but the chamber was empty and started laughing loudly and then stole my belongings, pictures of my wife Barbara and my children Alexander and Arianna.
444 days spent just 20 minutes outside
Berry was kept in the Evin prison in Tehran, where Nazneen was also kept. Talking to Richard, he said that I was blindfolded constantly, my hands and feet were tied and my hands were numb due to being tied. I spent only 20 minutes outside in 444 days. I used to dream of walking on the grass and seeing the trees. Berry said that Nazneen is going through a lot of problems.
While Berry was facing torture in prison, his wife met politicians and pope in America and was trying to get him released. Rizzard is well aware of the conflict, whose wife Nazneen was arrested on 3 April 2016 at Imam Khomeini Airport for being a spy. She went on vacation in Iran after taking her daughter Gabriella to see her parents.
