The central government is working on building new highways from Delhi to Chandigarh, Delhi to Dehradun and Delhi to Haridwar. The construction of these roads is expected to drastically reduce the travel time. It is estimated that after the construction of new roads between Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Dehradun and Delhi-Haridwar, the travel time on all these routes will be reduced to around 2 hours. Whereas now it takes about 5 hours to complete this journey. The completion of new road projects will not only save time but also reduce fuel consumption. It will also benefit in the form of less pollution.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari also informed that the government will also launch the project of Delhi to Katra Expressway in the next two years, which will reduce the distance between the two cities from 727 kms to 572 kms. The minister said that through the new expressway, Katra can be reached from Delhi in six hours.

Besides this, Gadkari today reviewed the construction works of the Madhya Pradesh section of 8-lane Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway in Ratlam. The expressway project is scheduled to be completed in November next year at an estimated cost of Rs 8,437 crore.
It will take only 12 hours to reach Mumbai from Delhi
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will pass through Mandsaur (102.4 km), Ratlam (90.1 km) and Jhabua (52 km). This expressway will cover a total distance of 245 km in Madhya Pradesh. Under the 8-lane expressway, there will be 214 bridges, 511 culverts, 100 minor and major underpasses and seven toll booths in three districts of Madhya Pradesh. The new expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai from 24 hours to around 12 hours.
More than 32 crore liters of fuel will be saved
According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the construction of this expressway will save more than 32 crore liters of fuel every year. Not only this, it will also reduce the emission of carbon dioxide by 85 crore kg, which is equivalent to planting about 400 lakh trees. About 20 lakh trees and plants will be planted along the highway for environmental protection.
