The Office Memorandum states that it has been observed that during the second wave of COVID-19, which started from mid-April till now, it has affected a large number of people in the country. However, unlike last year’s nationwide lockdown, this year’s lockdown has varied across the country, depending on the severity of the second wave. Due to this many such contractual, casual and outsourced employees like housekeeping staff etc. have been forced to stay at home due to various reasons. Under normal circumstances, his salary could have been cut.

Further relief has been announced for such personnel in OM. For this, when they have been in the house during their lockdown, they will be considered on duty. The DOE states that in order to avoid difficulties under the prevailing extraordinary circumstances, it has been decided that whenever any such contractual, casual and outsourced employees of the Ministries/Departments of the Government of India and other entities are appointed by the State or Union Territories Those who have to stay at home due to the lockdown in the imposed state, they will be considered on duty during the period of their absence and will be paid salaries etc. accordingly.
