MumbaiThe third wave of Corona has come under control. First, after the warning of the fourth wave of Kanpur IIT and now the World Health Organization, there has been a stir in the whole world. BMC has also become alert after the warning of the World Health Organization (WHO). At present, 30 thousand beds are available with BMC, out of which only 60 to 70 patients are admitted.
Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that after this warning, the BMC has decided not to close the Jumbo COVID Center. Apart from this, 1 lakh beds are being prepared in Mumbai in view of the sound of the fourth wave.
BMC is going to keep all its services ready
There have been three waves of corona infection starting from March 2020. The two wave proved to be the most deadly while the third had the highest number of corona patients. Due to the warning of the World Health Organization, BMC is going to keep all its services ready. Jumbo COVID centers started being closed after the number of patients decreased in the third wave. Priority is being given to the treatment of non-covid patients in hospitals. The hired staff posted in the wards and the Jumbo COVID Center were removed, but now the BMC has to rethink. According to BMC, doctors, nurses, health workers, medicines are all available in the context of the fourth wave. Meanwhile, in some countries including China, Korea, the decision to remove the corona lockdown hastily, due to the confusion created about the vaccine and the lack of public awareness, the corona infection has started spreading again.

No hurry in Mumbai
Compared to other countries, there was no haste in removing the lockdown in Mumbai. The restrictions were removed in a phased manner. That’s why corona immunity was born among citizens. In Mumbai, 100% of the citizens have received the first dose of the corona vaccine. 99% of the people have taken the second dose as well. Precaution doses are being given to health workers, frontline workers, and people above 80 years of age.
Bed will be ready like this
- 30 thousand beds for symptomatic patients
- 40 thousand beds for asymptomatic patients
- A total of 1 lakh beds are being prepared for those with high risk contacts, including 30 thousand beds.
The effect of the third wave was less visible due to increased self-immunity among people due to vaccination. Even after that, along with washing hands, applying mask, and keeping a safe distance, one has to be alert from corona. BMC currently has a provision of 30 thousand beds. If needed, we are ready to increase it to one lakh.
