Rajnath Singh in Rajya Sabha: Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday gave a statement in the Rajya Sabha regarding the current situation in East Ladakh. The Union Defense Minister said that talks have been going on with China at the military and diplomatic level since last year and during the talks the neighboring country was told that the border dispute should be resolved on the basis of three principles.
- The LAC should be agreed and respected by both parties.
- Neither side should try to change the situation unilaterally from either side.
- All agreements should be fully adhered to by both parties.
The Union Defense Minister said that the issue related to the deployment of troops from the north-southern side of Pangog Lake on LAC with China is yet to be resolved. However, he said that it is agreed to withdraw troops from this area at the earliest and this will be done as soon as possible. Rajnath Singh said in the Rajya Sabha that in constant dialogue with China, it has been agreed that the troops will return to the northern and southern sides of Pangong Lake. After this agreement, India and China will remove the advance deployment in a phased manner.
Military commanders meeting 48 hours after the withdrawal of troops
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that after continuous talks with China, it has now been agreed with the neighbouring country that the army will be removed from the northern and southern banks of Pangong Lake. Within 48 hours of the withdrawal of the troops from the Pangong lake, there will be a meeting of the senior commanders of both the countries so that other issues can be resolved.
The Union Defense Minister told the Rajya Sabha that China would place its army on the northern side of Pangong Lake east of Finger 8 and India would deploy its army in a permanent base near Finger 3.
Indian soldiers handled the situation effectively
The Defense Minister said in the Rajya Sabha that China has deployed troops in large numbers and has collected ammunition near the LAC in East Ladakh. However, Rajnath Singh informed that Indian soldiers have also effectively handled the situation there in response. The Union Defense Minister said that our security forces have proved that they are ready to meet any challenge to protect the universality of the country.
