Health authority stopped use of medicine, but women continued to eat
Rojas said that he saw in a post on Facebook that the Chilean Health Authority had stopped using the batch of medicine that he had taken. He said that I was about to take the second batch of medicine, but only then I came to know about the use of this medicine. But by the time she stops taking the medicine, Rosas is six weeks pregnant. Apart from Rojas, there are 170 Chilean women who have become pregnant like him.
Company issued notice for batch of bad medicine
The report said that the first batch of the drug was sent back to the company on 24 August 2020. Some health workers and rural clinics complained of the drug being spoiled, after which it was done. Silesia, the company making this drug, published an online notice on August 29 and recalled the bad batch. Healthcare workers were told not to give them to anyone if bad medicines are present. However, this notice went unnoticed and the women continued to eat medicine.
Government engaged in helping women
The Chilean Ministry of Health has said that it has informed the Health Service that it should inform the women using this medicine and take appropriate action against the culprits. The ministry said that it is providing counseling and support to the health workers to help the affected women. However, the women have alleged that nothing of this sort has been done and they have received information about their pregnancy during the checkup.
