Attention focused on OBC reservation
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has 139 members in 46 wards. Of these, 70 seats will be reserved for women. According to social reservation, 22 seats will be reserved for Scheduled Castes and 3 for Scheduled Tribes. Reservation for women will remain at 50 percent. Apart from this, the remaining 38 seats are reserved for OBCs. The overall ward structure as well as leaving the reservation of wards will decide the future of the political leaders of the city. Decision on OBC reservation is pending due to court proceedings. Therefore, even after the formation of the ward, the Election Commission has not issued the draw of reservation.
The draw is expected to be held in the first week of March.
The draw is expected to be held in the first week of March. However, if the court’s decision is delayed, the draw may be delayed. In such a situation, now everyone’s attention is on the decision of reservation. Meanwhile, the future of many veterans who have been frequent members in the Municipal Corporation is facing difficulties due to the ward structure. There is also a danger of women’s reservation. Therefore, the veteran leaders of the political parties of the city are now in search of an alternate ward.
