The accused who cheated the woman on the pretext of marriage through matrimonial website arrested

Thane: Thane Property Cell Police has arrested an inter-state thug who duped many women by pretending to marry through the metromonial website. So far, the matter of duping 14 women by the arrested Aditya alias Tanmay Mhatre has come to the fore. Mhatre is married and has a son.

Thane Crime Branch Additional CP Ashok Morale said that Mhatre had come in contact with a woman resident of Kalyan. Tanmay told the woman to be a scientist herself and to be working in ISRO. The conversation between the two was taking place through WhatsApp, Facebook and phone calls. Both had come close to each other and agreed to get married. Meanwhile, by giving various reasons, Tanmay had gradually taken 14 lakh 36 thousand from the woman and demanded 25 lakh. The woman suspected him and had registered a case against Tanmay at Khadakpada police station under IPC 420, 406 and Section 66 of the IT Act.

Apart from the local police, the property cell was probing the matter parallelly. Due to frequent change of place, the police could not find the whereabouts of Tanmay. Anil Honrao, Senior PI, Property Cell, had come to know about Tanmay coming to meet a woman in Vashi, Navi Mumbai in connection with marriage. Police laid a trap and caught Tanmay. Cases of cheating have been registered against Tanmay at Dindoshi, Vikhroli Parksite, Navi Mumbai’s Rabale, APMC, Sangvi in ​​Pimpri Chinchwad and Alibaug police stations. Under the guidance of Thane CP Jaijit Singh, Joint CP Suresh Mekhla, DCP Laxmikant Patil, ACP Ashok Rajput, the team of PI Dinesh Shelar, PSI Mahesh Jadhav led by Senior PI Anil Honrao played an important role in arresting Thug Tanmay.
