New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao’s 68th birthday is today i.e. on February 17. Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) chief Chandrashekar Rao (K. Chandrashekar Rao) became the first Chief Minister of Telangana state in June 2014. After this, he was elected CM for the second time. In the year 2018, he once again took charge of Telangana and took oath as the Chief Minister.
Chandrashekhar Rao was born in 1953 in Medak, Telangana. KCR’s early education took place in Andhra Pradesh and after that he earned a master’s degree in literature from Osmania University in Hyderabad. During his studies in the year 1970, KCR tried his hand in politics and after completion of his studies, he started working as an employment consultant.

Chandrashekhar Rao is said to have started his political career as a student leader. He joined the Telugu Desam Party in the year 1985 and after that he never looked back. He was elected MLA for the first time after joining Telugu Desam Party in 1985. Apart from this, he became a Minister of State in the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1987. Chandrashekhar Rao was also a Union Minister from 1997 to 1999.
Chandrashekhar Rao made rapid progress in his political career. He was also the Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2001. After this, in the year 2001, demanding a separate state of Telangana, he resigned from the Telugu Desam Party and his party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was formed. He became the chief of TRS and in 2004 entered the fray to contest the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the Congress. During this, his party performed well and won five seats in the elections. Then there was the UPA government at the Center and in UPA-1, he held the post of Union Labor and Planning Minister from 2004 to 2006.
