Cyclone Tauktae has now turned into a major cyclonic storm on Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information. The meteorological department also warned that Tauktae is expected to become more severe during the next 12 hours that it may cross the Gujarati coast between Porbandar and Mahuva in Bhavnagar district on Tuesday morning. However, this cyclonic storm is moving towards the coast of Gujarat, along with it is continuously raining and strong winds in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.
Orange alert issued for three districts of Kerala
Orange alert has been issued for three districts of Kerala, including Malappuram, Ernakulam and Idukki. Yellow alert has been issued in the remaining three districts of the state. The Meteorological Department said that there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state, when the storm is moving northwards in the Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the coming hours in the state and appealed people to take precautions.
The State Disaster Management Authority of Kerala has issued a directive to fishermen not to venture into the sea until further orders. The IMD has also informed that the impact of the storm will be seen in Kerala in the next 24 hours.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Twitter that according to the Meteorological Department the effects of Tauktae will be felt in Kerala for the next 24 hours. Average rainfall in the last two days is 145.5mm, 200mm + at Kochi, Peermade stations. Those who are on the banks of the river should be careful. He also said that those who are going to relief camps should carry masks, sanitizers, medicines, medicines slips, certificates and important documents with them.
Strong winds and high waves along with torrential India have caused havoc in the state during the last few days. Very heavy rainfall has been seen in all the districts. Many low-lying areas and roads were flooded. Some houses were damaged in whole or in part and many trees were uprooted. The power lines were found to be cut in many parts. Relief camps were set up all over the states.
