Tata’s new SUV Punch was officially announced on Monday and is set to launch in India sometime this month. Tata Motors emphasized the growing preference for SUVs in the country and said that the Punch SUV will be able to meet the needs of a vehicle with a solid road presence, feature-packed cabin and diverse terrain navigability in a compact overall proportion. .
It is further speculated that at launch, the Tata Puch could have a competing price, increasing the competition in the sub-compact SUV segment. For now, bookings start at Rs.21,000.
Exterior Styling of Tata Puch:
It looks like the Tata Punch has a larch wheel arch and will be offered in dual tone color options. The face is styled by a “humanity line” on the front grille head light with LED DRLs. It also gets 16-inch alloy wheels.
Variants of Tata Punch:
The Punch will come in seven colors and four variants – Tata calls it “Persona”.
The first variant is Pure and gets dual airbags, 15-inch wheels, dual drive mode, engine-start stop, 90-degree opening doors, rear flat floor. The available color options are Wheat and Grey.
Then there is Adventure persona. Apart from the pre-existing features, the 4 inch infotainment system, steering mounted controls, front and rear power windows and central remote locking are some of the highlights of the Pure.
The third Persona variant is Accomplished, with a seven-inch infotainment screen, rear-view cam, voice recognition, passive entry, push-button start, six-way height-adjustable seats and cruise control.
The fourth variant is Creative, it has been introduced in Red, Blue and dual-tone color themes. It gets projector head light and LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, electric ORVMs, auto temperature control, cooled glovebox, leather-wrapped steering and gear knob and iRA connected technology.
Based on the ALFA-ARC architecture in the new Tata Punch, it gets 187 mm of ground clearance, 20.3 degree approach angle, traction control mode and has 370 mm of water-wading capability.
ABD with EBD comes as standard. Brake Sway control is being given for the first time in a Tata car. The Punch will come with a tire repair kit.
The Punch gets a 1.2 Revotron engine under the hood with DynaPro technology. It claims to go from zero to 60 kmph in 6.5 seconds and takes about 16 seconds to reach 100 kmph. Tata Motors is also emphasizing on adding augmented AMT with altitude terrain mapping. It also has the option of 5 speed manual transmission.
