The water in Kasadi river was contaminated due to chemical-laden water being released by Taloja MIDC-based companies. In this context, I had filed a complaint with the NGT, on the basis of which the NGT imposed a penalty of Rs 15 crore on the companies of Taloja MIDC and MIDC. 75 crore is being spent by companies and MIDC on expansion and upgradation of Taloja CETP, 95 of this work has been completed. A pipeline is going to be laid to release the water coming out of the STP into the sea, for which a tender of Rs 10 crore has been floated. I have fought a long battle against pollution being spread by companies, soon the matter is going to be heard in Supreme Court and NGT.
