new Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Wednesday that he was confident that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would ensure an early inquiry into the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Kumar said, “We are confident that the CBI will conduct a quick inquiry and justice will be done.”

The apex court on Wednesday upheld the transfer of an FIR lodged against actress Riya Chakraborty and others in Patna, which allegedly handed over Sushant’s suicide to the CBI. The apex court said that the Bihar government was competent to transfer the case to the CBI for investigation.

A bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy said that the FIR lodged by the Bihar Police on the complaint of Rajput’s father Krishna Kishore Singh is correct and the reference of the CBI is lawful.
The Chief Minister said that it is clear that the FIR lodged by the Bihar Police is an appropriate step. The apex court gave its verdict on the plea of Chakraborty, who had sought transfer of the FIR lodged against him in Patna to Mumbai. Sushant, 34, was found dead in his apartment in Bandra, Mumbai on 14 June and since then the Mumbai Police has been investigating the case keeping various aspects in mind.
The Center had earlier informed the apex court that it had accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation for a CBI probe into the FIR lodged in Patna by Rajput’s father, who accused Riya Chakraborty and six others of various crimes, including suicide. . While delivering the verdict, the bench said that if any other case is registered in connection with Rajput’s death, it will be investigated only by the CBI. The top court held that the investigation conducted by the CBI was valid.
