Wani, The Vani Depot has suffered a loss of Rs 1.60 crore in the strike going on for the last 47 days. So far 42 employees have started working in the depot here and 180 employees are still taking part in the strike. Due to the closure of bus service, passengers have to depend on private vehicles for double the fare.
The strike has been going on since October 31. The strike started on the eve of Diwali and caused a huge financial blow to the Vani Depot. During this, the daily income of the Vani depot was at least five lakh rupees.
However, due to the strike, the passenger traffic of ST remained disrupted due to the strike, which adversely affected the daily income of the Vani depot. At the same time, Vani Depot earns Rs 3 lakh daily. However, this income has been declining for the last 47 days.
The number of employees in Vani Depot is 222. However, 42 of them have started working in phases. However, 180 employees are adamant on their demands. During the strike, 20 employees of Vani Depot were suspended, while five employees were thrown out.
At present, only seven ferries are running from Vani Depot. Meanwhile, the Vani Depot recruited some employees and started the Vani-Yavatmal and Vani-Patan bus services. However, unidentified people pelted stones on both the buses. The bus got damaged. The Yavatmal bus was pelted with stones at Karanji, while the Patan bus was pelted near Manki village in Wani tehsil. After both the incidents, a case has been registered against the unknown in the concerned police station.
After that the Vani depot closed the bus ferries 8. The stone pelting created fear in the minds of the passengers as well. However, after two days the buses have started again. Buses are being issued from Vani to Ralegaon, Pandharkawada, Jhari, Patan, Mukutban in a phased manner. However, the response from passengers on these tours has been minimal. Buses coming from the district to Wani except Adilabad are currently closed. Adilabad Vani is the bus of Adilabad depot that comes here regularly. Passengers are traveling in this bus. This has brought relief to the passengers on the Mukutban Jhari route.

Private transport is booming in Vani as bus workers are on strike. From 6 am on the Vani-Chandrapur route, 50 to 60 vehicles are taking passengers to and from Chandrapur. The fare of Chandrapur is being taken around three hundred rupees.
