A top Sri Lankan minister said on Tuesday that the main mastermind of the Sri Lanka Easter Attack in 2019 has been identified. He said that the conspirator is a radical cleric. He is currently in custody. 270 people including 11 Indians were killed in these attacks. Nine suicide bombers of the Nationalist Tauheed Jamaat (NTJ), a local Islamic charioteer group associated with the terrorist organization ISIS, carried out the attacks, targeting three churches.

This person has also been identified. He said that 32 suspects have been charged for murder and conspiracy to murder. The minister said that 75 other suspects are in custody. The minister said that there are a total of 211 suspects in remand custody of which 32 have been charged.
Terrorists targeted hotels and churches
Let us tell you that on 21 April 2019, on the occasion of Easter Sunday, three Sri Lankan churches and three hotels in the capital Colombo were blown up by the terrorists. The six that were targeted included St. Anthony’s Church in Colombo, Sebastiens Church in Negombo’s Western Coastal Town and Batticalova Church in Eastern Town. At the same time, the three five-star hotels targeted by the terrorists included Hotel Sangrila, The Cinnamon Grand and The Kingsbury. A residential complex and a guest house were also targeted in the afternoon.
The process of catching criminals started after the attack
Immediately after this attack government offices and facilities were closed. The curfew was announced by the police from 6 pm on the day of the attack. Social media was banned and schools were ordered to be closed for two days. A live bomb was also found near the International Airport in Colombo, which was defused by the Sri Lankan Air Force. After the attack, the army started catching hold of the accused of mass raids.
