Nagpur. Nagpur Citizens Forum has started ‘Right to Pee’ movement demanding to provide clean, safe and free toilets to the residents. The movement was started from Sitabardi market where women employees working in the shops are getting a huge response. Women workers also shared their problems.
During this, Rajat Padole, Rohit Kumbhare, Amit Bandurkar, Abhijit Singh Chandel, Sameer Yelne, Rupesh Chaudhary, Shivam Umredkar, Vaibhav Shinde Patil, Sanket Mahalle etc. participated. The forum says that the number of public toilets is very less compared to the population of the city. Those available are in extremely dirty and pathetic condition.
There are no toilets in the market complexes, due to which women are facing problems. It is unfortunate that even in big market complexes like Sitabardi, Mahal, Itwari, Gandhibagh, there are no toilets. During the movement, members were holding posters writing various slogans and slogans demanding public toilets.
Deliberate neglect of Municipal Corporation
It was alleged that on the one hand, the Municipality keeps claiming to make a clean, beautiful and healthy city, but is deliberately neglecting to provide the most basic facilities. The leaders are also not serious about this. Nothing has been done on this subject for 15 years. In the absence of toilets, men stand anywhere on the side of the wall and make a small mistake, which is disgraceful.
Women have to suffer a lot. Clean, safe and free toilet is a fundamental right of every citizen. This signature campaign is being run to make citizens aware and to awaken the leaders of the city administration.
The report will be ready after doing the survey
A survey is being done by the Forum on the number of public toilets in the city. The members are preparing the actual status report of the toilets available in different parts. Apart from this, plebiscite is being held in markets and crowded complexes. Complaints are being taken in this regard from women and girls working in shops and offices.
This is the first phase of the campaign. In the second phase, public dialogue, attention-grabbing movement will be held in front of unhygienic toilets and will also gherao public representatives. The Forum has constituted a committee on this issue. She will submit her survey report to the Municipal Corporation.
