Foreign Minister S Jaishankar Meets Iran and Turkey Foreign Ministers: India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has reached Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on Monday to participate in an important conference on Afghanistan (Heart of Asia Conference). After arriving here, he met Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif and discussed other issues of bilateral cooperation, including the strategically important Chabahar Port. Jaishankar has reached Dushanbe today to participate in the ninth ‘Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process’.
Apart from the Foreign Minister’s conference, there is also a possibility of meeting the leaders of other participating countries. Jaishankar has tweeted, “Started programs of Hort of Asia with Iran’s Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif. There was a heated conversation, in which mutual interests were discussed (S Jaishankar meet Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif). Discussions were also held on bilateral cooperation including Chabahar. Jaishankar stayed in Tehran (the capital of Iran) in the middle of Russia while going to Russia for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in September. During that time too, he discussed the issue of strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional development with Zarif.

At the same time, Jaishankar has also met Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Monday. After the meeting, Jaishankar tweeted, ‘The point of our conversation was the things related to Afghanistan and bilateral relations’. The Ninth Heart of Asia Istanbul Process is being held at the Heart of Asia Summit Held in Which City, in Dushanbe, as part of the ‘Istanbul Process’, a regional effort on security and cooperation for a stable, peaceful Afghanistan. It started on November 2, 2011 from Turkey.
What did you say on Afghanistan?
S. Jaishankar said last week about Afghanistan that India clearly wants to see a sovereign, democratic and inclusive Afghanistan that takes care of the minorities of its country (Heart of Asia Summit). He had said, ‘There is a process of peace and reconciliation and everyone is saying that the Taliban is trying and changing. At the moment let’s wait, then let’s see. ‘ (S Jaishankar on Afghanistan) Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is also attending the conference. There was also speculation about the possibility of meeting between the two leaders due to the participation of the foreign ministers of the two countries.
