New Delhi: Serum Institute of India has a plan to bring COVID-19 vaccine for children in the next six months. The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawalla gave this information on Tuesday.
Taking part in an industry conference, Poonawalla said that the ‘Kovovax’ vaccine is under trial and will provide all-round protection to children aged three years and above. He said that excellent figures of testing have been seen.

He said there is enough data to demonstrate that the vaccine will work and protect children from infectious disease. Currently, Kovidshield and other COVID vaccines are approved for people over the age of 18.
Poonawalla said, “We have not seen a more serious disease in children. Luckily for the kids don’t panic. However, we will come out with a vaccine for children in six months, hopefully for children aged three years and above. He mentioned that there are two companies in India that are licensed and their vaccines will be available soon.
He said, “If you think you should vaccinate your child, wait for the announcement from the government…. Poonawalla said that nothing can be said as of now about the Omicron nature of COVID, how it will affect children.
