Mumbai: The first phase of Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Expressway from Nagpur to Shirdi will be opened soon. State Public Works (Public Enterprises) and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde visited the Samruddhi Expressway. He also drove an electric car (E-Car) on the highway.
According to Public Works Minister Eknath Shinde, the first phase of the Samridhi Highway from Shirdi to Nagpur is nearing completion. The construction of toll plazas at exit points along with passenger convenience is underway on both sides of the road.
Balasaheb Thackeray’s statue will be installed
The work of making a special rotary circle at zero point on Samridhi Highway is also going on. Shinde while reviewing the work said that there is a plan to install a life-size statue of late Balasaheb Thackeray in the middle of the circle. Work on the circle will be completed in the next few months.

76 underpass
Another great feature of this green highway is that special care has been taken for the protection of wildlife here. 8 overpasses and 76 underpasses have been made on Samridhi Highway so that wildlife does not face any problem in moving from one place to another. Shinde also took stock of the work of the overpass. Noise barriers will also be installed to protect wildlife from noise pollution. MSRDC officials said that the movement of wildlife has started from this overpass. To make the overpass look like a forest, special plants have been specially designed and planted.
fast paced second phase
Work is also underway in the second phase of the 701-km-long Samridhi Expressway connecting the country’s financial capital Mumbai and the state’s sub-capital Nagpur, from Shirdi to Igatpuri and Kasara. Afcons Infrastructure has also completed the tunneling work of longest and widest road tunnels at Igatpuri. In the second phase, under package 14, the work of two viaducts, two tunnels and one interchange on the expressway is going on in full swing. The target is to complete this by the end of the year.
car rally
A special rally of supercars of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes was also organized on the highway on Sunday. The rally was inaugurated by PWD Minister Shinde and MSRDC MD Radheshyam Mopalwar. During this, Shinde traveled on the highway in an e-car. On this occasion, Joint Director MSRDC Anil Kumar Gaikwad, Wardha District Collector Prerna Deshbhratar and officers and employees of MSRDC were present.
