Marathi actress Kranti Redkar Wankhede, wife of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede, said on Tuesday that many people would benefit if her husband was removed from her post. He said that Sameer Wankhede is an honest officer and hence his enemy. He also claimed that Sameer Wankhede’s life is in danger.
She also reiterated that there was no evidence of extortion against her husband. Responding to Nawab Malik’s allegations of extortion and illegal phone tapping against the NCB officer, Redkar said that my husband is not wrong. We will not tolerate this. Sameer Wankhede is investigating the Mumbai drugs case. Aryan Khan, who is the son of film star Shahrukh Khan, is also among those arrested in this case.
Kranti Redkar said during a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday that I have been given police protection because our family is being threatened with death. Many people will benefit if Sameer Wankhede is removed from his post. She said that her husband is an honest person and that is why he has many enemies. She reiterated that there was no evidence of the allegations of extortion being leveled by her husband.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) national spokesperson and minister in Maharashtra government Nawab Malik on Monday claimed that Sameer Wankhede is a Muslim by birth and his real name is Sameer Dawood Wankhede. Apart from this, Nawab Malik has also raised questions on the birth certificate of Wankhede. However, NCB officer Wankhede’s father had clarified that his name is Gyandev and not Dawood, as claimed by Malik.
Meanwhile, Sameer Wankhede reached the agency’s headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday. NCB’s Mumbai unit chief Samir Wankhede, who is probing the Mumbai cruise drug case, came out after spending more than an hour at the NCB office in Delhi. Outside the NCB headquarters, some people holding placards were seen supporting Wankhede.
Wankhede arrived in Delhi on Tuesday after the NCB ordered a vigilance inquiry into the claim of a witness demanding Rs 25 crore by Sameer Wankhede and some officials to release Aryan Khan, an accused in a cruise ship seizure of drugs.
