Nagpur. Under the Right to Education Act (RTE), 6,186 seats have been made available in 663 schools of the district for the admission of children from economically weaker and backward classes in private and unaided schools. The process of applying online for the academic year 2022-23 started from Thursday. On the very first day, more than 7,200 parents submitted online applications. This time 19 schools have not registered as compared to last year. On the other hand, 457 seats have increased due to the new rules of RTE. The needy students will get its benefit.
Last year the admission process started late and went on for a long time. This time the schools did not show enthusiasm for RTE admission. Some schools did not participate in the registration. Because of this, the number of schools has reduced this time. Till 8 pm on Friday night, 7,271 applications were made. Last time also, about 3 times the applications were received as compared to the seats. This time also the same situation seems to be happening.
Schools reduced due to the new rule
Last year, 5,729 seats in 680 schools were reserved for admission under RTE in the district. This time new criteria have been issued regarding RTE. For this, while making new registrations, self-help schools have been asked not to give admission for 3 years. On the other hand, in respect of old schools, schools which have more than 50 percent of the total number of RTE children from class 1 to 8, then they have also been asked not to participate in the process. This is the reason that this time the number of schools has decreased but due to the introduction of new sections and new schools, the seats have increased.
