New Delhi. Delhi Police has issued guidelines saying that only people who have got full anti-Covid vaccination (Corona Vaccination) are allowed to participate in the Republic Day celebrations to be held at Rajpath and more than 15 years. Underage children are not allowed to attend the event. The police also said that people will have to follow all covid related protocols including wearing of masks, keeping distance from each other during the event organized at Rajpath on 26 January.
Police tweeted that attending the ceremony “must have had both doses of the anti-Covid vaccine. Visitors are requested to bring their own vaccination certificate.” He said that children below the age of 15 are not allowed to attend the function. It is worth noting that the anti-Covid vaccination campaign was started on January 16 last year and from this month it has also been started for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 years.
Delhi Police said in the guidelines that the sections would be opened for the visitors to sit at 7 am and they arrived accordingly. He said parking space is limited, so visitors are advised to pool cars or use taxis. Police have also urged people to bring valid identity cards and cooperate in security checks. The police tweeted that there is also a provision to deposit the keys of remote controlled car locks in every parking area.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said on Sunday that over 27,000 police personnel have been deployed for security in the national capital on the occasion of Republic Day and the anti-terror system has been further strengthened. He said that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Inspector, Sub Inspector rank officers have been entrusted with the responsibility of security.
Asthana said Armed Police Forces and commandos, officers and jawans of the Central Armed Police Forces have also been deployed. Talking to the media about the security arrangements on Republic Day, Asthana had said that 27,723 personnel of Delhi Police, including 71 DCPs, 213 ACPs and 753 inspectors, have been deployed to guard the parade. 65 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have been deployed to assist them. He said that in the last two months, the Delhi Police in coordination with other security agencies has further strengthened the anti-terror measures.
