The volcano, which had remained calm in the Caribbean island of St. Vincent for nearly a decade, suddenly exploded two days ago. After which the electricity here went and the water service was also disrupted. Around 16,000 people were forced to leave their homes (St Vincent Volcano Eruption 2021). The pictures after the volcano are now quite viral.

In the pictures, the entire area is seen covered with a sheet of ash. At first sight, it looks like a layer of ice, but in fact it is the ash that comes out of it after the volcano erupts. The volcano, called La Soufriere, exploded on Friday, causing mist in the sky.

People living in Barbados, located about 200 km (about 124 mi) in the east, have been asked to stay inside their homes. Scientists have said that this situation in the volcano may continue for a few days or weeks (St Vincent Volcano Eruption News). People are also facing many problems.

On Sunday, Saint Vincent’s Emergency Management Organization, Nemo, has tweeted, “There has been a huge explosion of electricity due to another eruption in La Sofrière volcano. Lightning is on fire (St Vincent Volcano Ash Cloud Path). Most of the area of the country is covered with ash and without electricity.

Nemo has urged people to be cautious while walking on the road, which is appearing white due to the ashes. Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has said that water supply has been disrupted in most areas of the island and the airspace has also been closed as there is too much of smoke.

Ashes are visible everywhere due to the smell of smoke. Gonsalves said that thousands of people have been staying in the Emergency Shelter since Friday. Earlier, he had said that the ash emanating from the volcano has also fallen into the sea. Do not know yet how much more ash will fall (St Vincent Caribbean Volcano). However, no one was killed and no one was injured.

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency has also shared several pictures of the ash-covered places on its official Twitter account (St Vincent Volcano Activity Today). The agency has said, in view of the situation in St. Vincent, the Defense Force of Barabados has been deployed. Which is providing humanitarian aid to the people under rescue and relief work.
