Mumbai: Train service was restored on this route within 24 hours of derailment of LTT-Jayanagar Pawan Express near Nashik on Sunday. On Sunday, 12 coaches of the 11061 Pawan Express going from Mumbai to Bihar derailed between Lahavit and Devlali. After this accident, Central Railway started immediate relief work and sent accident relief medical equipment train from Manmad and Bhusaval and medical van from Igatpuri. Luckily no passenger died in this accident. Some passengers were definitely injured.
Central Railway CPRO Shivaji Sutar said that the work of repairing the broken tracks was started with relief to the passengers. Stranded passengers of coaches were taken to Nashik Road station. After feeding them water, biscuits and dinner, they were sent to their destination late in the night by an additional special train. A high-level inquiry was ordered into the accident.

Repair work was started on war footing at the accident site. Central Railway GM Anil Kumar Lahoti and other senior officials themselves stood by the accident site. The track was restored in a record time of 23 hours. About 500 officers and other employees worked tirelessly. 4 JCB 5 Poklen 8 Hydra and 2 Accident Relief Trains were pressed into service for restoration. Around 250 to 300 meters of track were replaced. The first train 11055 LTT-Gorakhpur Godan Express passed on the track at 2.55 hrs after securing the track and OHE after trial and getting clearance at 2.15 pm.

GM camped
GM Lahoti himself landed in the ground for restoration of service on the down line. They camped at the site until the first train on the down line passed over the restored line. During this, along with other department heads of Central Railway, DRM S.S. Kedia and other Divisional Officers and Railway Board officials were also present to oversee the restoration work.

Due to the accident, some trains had to be canceled and some had to be diverted and short terminated. Around 12 trains were cancelled, 19 trains were diverted and 8 trains were short terminated/short origin. Help-desks were set up at all major stations. Helpline numbers are also operational at CSMT Mumbai, Dadar, LTT, Thane, Kalyan, Igatpuri and Bhusaval Control Offices of Mumbai Division and Bhusaval Station, Manmad, Nashik Road, Khandwa, Akola, Chalisgaon and Jalgaon stations at Bhusaval Division. For the convenience of the passengers, 28 additional counters for refund were also opened at all the major stations.
