Ashneer Grover on Thursday hit back at the BharatPe board and in particular its CEO Suhail Sameer, amid allegations of earning crores after selling thousands of free passes during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Grover tweeted a picture of three people, probably from last year’s T20 World Cup. He wrote, “BharatPe board thinks I’m 2 of 10, 2 of 10, 2 of 10 in ICC World Cup – Aye sahab maangta hai kya ticket black mein? That’s what I’m doing. I’m really sure of it That Suhail Sameer and Sumeet Singh do not drink dry the hospitality sector. ANYTHING!!!”
He then wrote his old dialogue on the reality show Shark Tank India, tweeting, “Board people, stop all this gimmicks and look at this – too much creative and fun for all.”

These allegations were against Ashneer Grover
Ashneer Grover was reacting to reports by news agency IANS, according to which, he allegedly sold thousands of free passes during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and earned a few crores from the sale of most of them.
BharatPe was the global partner of the tournament. According to sources, typically a global partner gets around 700 free passes for a match and the fintech platform has thousands of passes to distribute, most of which are reportedly sold.
Grover reportedly sold each pass for as little as 750 dirhams (about Rs 15,000) and earned several crores in the process, which were allegedly deposited into an account in Dubai.
Some employees of BharatPe told IANS that they were given passes for Common Stand, but not for VIPs. The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 was hosted by UAE and Oman from October 17 at four venues – Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. The final of the tournament was played on 14 November in Dubai. Sixteen teams participated in the tournament.
