Pushkar Singh Dhami, who returned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power in Uttarakhand for the second time in a row, was today sworn in as the 12th Chief Minister of the state. Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmeet Singh administered the oath of office to Pushkar Singh Dhami as the Chief Minister. Dhami took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for the second time in a row in a mega swearing-in ceremony. Eight cabinet ministers were also sworn in along with him.
Pushkar Singh Dhami was on Monday elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Uttarakhand, paving the way for him to assume the reins of the state for the second time. After Pushkar Singh Dhami, Satpal Maharaj also took oath as a minister. Apart from Satpal, Dhan Singh Rawat, Ganesh Joshi, Rekha Arya, Subodh Uniyal, Saurav Bahuguna, Premchand Agarwal and Chandan Ram Das were also administered the oath of office by the Governor.
CMs of BJP ruled states including PM Modi were present
During this, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states including Prime Minister Narendra Modi were also present on the stage. Soon after taking oath, Pushkar Dhami reached PM Modi to seek his blessings. Apart from Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, Goa’s nominated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Uttar Pradesh’s nominated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Rajasthan’s BJP leader Vasundhara Raje were also present at the swearing-in ceremony. Union ministers Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari and other BJP leaders were also present at the event.
Dhami lost his seat
In the just-concluded assembly elections, the BJP won 47 out of 70 seats and is coming to power for the second time in a row with more than two-thirds majority. However, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who led the BJP, which fought the assembly elections with the slogan ‘Uttarakhand Phir Mange, Modi-Dhami Ki Sarkar’, lost from Khatima, his traditional seat.
Due to this, the leadership had to brainstorm afresh on the name of the Chief Minister, which took about 11 days. Pushkar Singh Dhami will now have to become an MLA by winning the election within 6 months. After announcing his name, Dhami said that he would make Uttarakhand the best state of the country under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi.
Why did Pushkar Singh Dhami prove to be a juggler even after losing?
Uttarakhand, which came into existence 22 years ago with 46-year-old Dhami taking oath for the second time, has also shattered another myth that no chief minister played his innings twice in a row. In July last year, Dhami was handed over the reins of the state a few months before the assembly elections and he came up to the trust of the party leadership.
When Dhami took charge in July last year, he became the youngest Chief Minister in the history of the state and faced many challenges like the Corona epidemic and disasters as well as the coming assembly elections and had only six months to prove himself. .

Challenges like derailed economy due to Corona epidemic, movement of pilgrimage priests regarding Chardham board and COVID fake investigation scam were also in front of him. He won by announcing several economic packages and dissolving the Chardham Board and snatched the issues from the hands of the opposition before the assembly elections.
Dhami is known to be close to Maharashtra Governor and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari and was his Officer on Special Duty during his tenure as Chief Minister. It is believed that Dhami, who was associated with student politics, was brought to the field of politics by Koshyari.
