With the construction of this 340.824 km long expressway from Lucknow to Ghazipur via Azamgarh and Mau, the distance between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh will be reduced, while trade and other commercial activities will also get a boost.
The six-lane Purvanchal Expressway will connect Lucknow with economically less developed districts like Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur, Faizabad, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar and Amethi. Later it will be extended to Ballia.
This expressway will connect the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh to New Delhi via Yamuna Expressway and will become the longest expressway in the country. Purvanchal Expressway will start from Chand Sarai village in Lucknow and end at Haidaria village in Ghazipur district.
The project cost of Purvanchal Expressway is approximately Rs 22,494.66 crore, which includes the cost of land.
Purvanchal Expressway will also be used as an emergency runway for Indian Air Force aircraft. This will allow fighter jets of the Indian Air Force to be used as an airstrip for emergencies.
