Punjab: stone pelting on Sukhbir Badal’s car, firing in clash between Akali and Congress workers

On Tuesday, clashes broke out between Shiromani Akali Dal activists and Congress (Congress) while filing nominations for Jalalabad Municipal Council elections in Fazilka district of Punjab. These skirmishes have increased so much, during this time, bullets went up and four people were injured by the shooting. Not only this, SAD President and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal also narrowly escaped the clash as his vehicle got stuck at the Jalalabad Tehsil office.

According to Hindustan Times, Jungveer Singh, Sukhbir Badal’s media advisor, said Sukhbir Singh Badal was safely removed from there, but his car suffered significant damage during the stone-pelting. The SAD chief was in his political stronghold to file nominations of his party leaders.

Jungveer Singh said that Sukhbir Singh Badal is a Lok Sabha MP from Ferozepur and has got z + security, despite this he was attacked so deadly. His vehicle was targeted by a mob led by Jalalabad Congress MLA Raminder Singh Awala. He said that at least three Akali workers were shot in the stone pelting and several others were injured.

At the same time, Congress MLA Raminder Singh Awala has accused Sukhbir of creating a ruckus and provoking his supporters to attack Congress workers. He said that at least one Congress worker was shot and more than six people suffered head injuries due to stone pelting.

On the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal’s car, Fazilka SSP Harjit Singh said that police will investigate and take action against whoever is involved in the incident.

On the attack on the activists, SAD leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that Sukhbir Singh Badal ji was brutally assaulted with stones by a son of a MLA of Congress and his car was broken into by stones. This is shaming democracy. Congress MLA and his son should be lodged and sent to jail.
