AhmedabadPrime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow in Ahmedabad on Friday as part of his two-day visit to Gujarat on March 11 and 12 and will also address a rally of over one lakh elected representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions. A BJP leader of the state gave this information. Modi is scheduled to visit his home state a day after the assembly election results in five states were announced on March 10. Assembly elections are due in Gujarat at the end of the year.
During his two-day visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate a Khel Mahakumbh in Ahmedabad and address the first convocation of the National Defense University in Gandhinagar district as the chief guest. BJP’s Gujarat unit chief CR Patil told reporters, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Ahmedabad airport on the morning of March 11. From there he will conduct a road show till Kamalam (state BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar). Four lakh people will welcome him on the way.”

He said that various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), organisations, BJP workers and well-wishers of Modi will be present at the pre-determined places of the Prime Minister during the roadshow. Patil said that in Kamalam, Modi will interact with BJP MPs, MLAs, office bearers and members of the state executive.
He told that in the evening of the same day, Modi will address the Maha Panchayat Sammelan – ‘Maru Gam, Maru Gujarat’ – at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad. More than 1.38 lakh elected representatives including taluka and district panchayat members and municipal councilors will participate.
Modi will attend the convocation ceremony of the National Defense University as the chief guest on Saturday morning, an official said. He will deliver the convocation address and share the stage with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will deliver the presidential address. Patil said that after this, Modi will inaugurate the Khel Mahakumbh program in the evening. He informed that more than 47 lakh people have registered for this programme. Under this, various sports will be organized at more than 500 places across the state.
According to the Gujarat government’s circular, Khel Mahakumbh has been declared a historic event under the Centre’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav program. Various sports events will be organized under this Mahakumbh to encourage school and college students. Sports events in five different categories will be organized during Khel Mahakumbh. (agency)
