President Ram Nath Kovind condoled the death of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday morning, saying Lata ji’s death is “heartbroken for me, for millions of people around the world.” Rashtrapati Bhavan quoted Kovind as saying, “An artist like Lata didi is born once in a century. She was an extraordinary person who was endowed with a high standard of behavior.” He said that this divine voice has stopped forever but the songs sung by him will be eternal and will resonate for eternity.
Condoling Lata ji’s death, the President said, “Lata ji’s death is heartbreaking for me, for millions of people around the world.” He said that the songs sung by him reflect the essence and beauty of India and generations have found it as an expression of their inner soul. Sharing his portrait with Swarkokila Lata Mangeshkar, President Kovind said that the achievements of Bharat Ratna Lata ji are incomparable.

Referring to their meeting, Kovind said that Lata didi was a unique personality and artists like her are born only once in centuries. He said that whenever he met Lata didi, he found her full of warmth. “My condolences to his family and fans,” the president said. Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday morning at a hospital in Mumbai.
