Ulhasnagar: The composition of the ward for the general election of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has been released on Tuesday. The information related to the division composition and its limits has been made public by the Municipal Administration for the information of the people. The structure of the wards has been displayed in the Municipal Headquarters and Divisional Committee Office. Due to this, the atmosphere of municipal elections has started in the city.
The tenure of the present public representatives of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation is going to end on April 4. Before the elections are to be held, the work of ward construction is going on for the last 3 months. A week ago, the local municipal election department prepared the draft of the ward structure and sent it to the district collector’s office. The draft has been approved by the Collector and the Election Commission and directed to take objections and suggestions. Under this, the Municipal Commissioner Dr Raja Dayanidhi has announced a program to take objections and suggestions.

The draft of the division was made public on February 1. Objections and suggestions can be filed in writing between Tuesday to February 14. The hearing on those objections and suggestions will be completed by February 28. After that the process of reservation of wards will start, due to which elections are more likely to be held in April or May. The Municipal Corporation had 78 members in the 2017 elections. According to the division composition, now 11 wards have increased. There will be 89 wards in the upcoming municipal elections, out of which 13 wards have been earmarked for Scheduled Castes and 1 Ward for Scheduled Tribes. Elections are likely to be held without OBC reservation.
