Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that he is hopeful that the West Bengal government will get the perpetrators punished for the Birbhum killings of eight people alive. Eight houses were allegedly torched in Bogtui village of Rampurhat town of Birbhum district on Tuesday, killing eight people.
PM Modi said, “I express my condolences on the violent incident that took place in Birbhum, West Bengal. I hope that the state government will definitely get punishment for those who commit such a heinous sin on the great land of Bengal.” “
“I would also urge the people of Bengal to never forgive the perpetrators of such incidents, those who encourage such criminals,” he said. CM Mamta Banerjee will visit the spot tomorrow

Violence erupts after killing of TMC leader
The violence took place after the murder of Bhadu Sheikh, the deputy head of Bogatui gram panchayat and TMC leader. Unknown miscreants set fire to about 10 houses in Bogtui village on the outskirts of Rampurhat city. They also threw bombs at the people sleeping in the houses. Eight people, including two children, died due to burns. Chief Minister Mamata has promised strict action against the culprits.
