Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the National Automobile Scrappage Policy today. While addressing the Gujarat Investor Summit through video conferencing, PM Modi described this policy as the mobility of New India and giving a new identity to the auto sector. This policy will play a big role in modernizing the vehicles on the roads in the country and removing the unfit vehicles. PM Modi described this policy as a link to the ‘Waste to Wealth’ campaign which shows India’s commitment to rapid development along with reducing pollution from cities and protecting the environment. After launching the National Automobile Scrappage Policy, PM Modi also enumerated four major benefits associated with it.

Benefits of this policy
- A certificate will be given on scrapping the old car. Whoever has this certificate will not have to pay any money for registration on the purchase of a new vehicle. Apart from this, he will also be given exemption in road tax.
- There will also be savings in maintenance cost, repair cost, fuel efficiency of the old vehicle.
- The third benefit is directly related to life. Due to old vehicles, old technology, the risk of road accident is very high, which will get rid of it.
- Health The impact on our health due to pollution will be reduced.
Government will help the auto industry
In order to give impetus to self-reliant India, the government is constantly taking new steps to make the industry sustainable and productive and efforts are being made that the value chain associated with auto manufacturing has to be least dependent on imports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that be it ethanol, hydrogen fuel or electric mobility, with these priorities of the government, active participation of the industry is necessary and they will have to increase their share from R&D (Research and Development) to infrastructure. PM Modi said that the government will give whatever help the industry needs for this.
