Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the ‘Griha Pravesham Program’ of 1.75 lakh houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) in Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing. PM Modi said on this occasion that normally it takes 125 days on an average to build a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In this era of Corona, houses have been built and built in just 45 to 60 days under PM Housing Scheme. He said that this is a very good example of turning disaster into an opportunity.
Modi government’s promise of a home for all people by 2022
The Modi government has promised a home for all people by the year 2022, under which the PM Awas Yojana (Rural) was launched in November 2016. Earlier, the government had said that 1.14 crore houses have been built across the country under the PM Awas Yojana. Under the PM Awas Yojana (Rural), every beneficiary gets a total grant of Rs 1.20 lakh. There is a shared ratio of 60:40 between the center and the state.
The funds of all these houses built under PM Awas Yojana (Rural) are given in four installments directly into the bank account of the beneficiary after verification of different levels of construction. The government has set a target of constructing 2.95 crore houses by the year 2022.
18 lakh houses completed in Corona period: PM Modi
PM Modi said that in the Corona period, 18 lakh houses were completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana across the country. Of this, 1.75 lakh houses have been completed in Madhya Pradesh alone. He said that he is satisfied that about 23 thousand crore rupees have been completed in many states of the country including Madhya Pradesh by the PM Garib Kalyan Abhiyan.
The Prime Minister also said that houses are being built under the PM Garib Kalyan Abhiyan, every house should be provided with water, construction of Anganwadi and Panchayat buildings, sheds for animals, ponds and wells, rural Many such works related to the development of the village have been done at a rapid pace. He said on PM Awas Yojana that in 2014, after studying old experiences, first the old plan was reformed and then the scheme was implemented with whole new thinking in the form of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In this, transparency was given priority from beneficiary selection to home entry.
