Pimpri: People living in the slums of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation are facing many problems. Problems like polluted water, poor condition of public toilets, clogged drains, garbage etc are prevalent in the slums. The officers and officials of the Municipal Corporation seem indifferent towards their solution.
On the other hand, in view of the elections, work worth crores of rupees is being allowed without any reason. At present, under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, various works are being carried out at different places in Pimpri-Chinchwad city at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. Instead of solving the problems of thousands of jhuggi-jhoppers, there is a huge anger among the citizens due to the expenditure being spent by the authorities on the beautification of the settlements. Baba Kamble, the national president of the troubled Janata Aghadi, accused the municipal authorities and officials of making fun of them by keeping the problems of slums as they are.

Metropolitan Municipality will be surrounded
5% of the total budget of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation should be used for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Classes, but without using funds for them, it is being diverted. This is injustice to poor citizens. This category of poor citizens has not developed because of the policy of the Municipal Corporation. Along with this, he warned in a press release that the problems of the slum dwellers would be surrounded by the Municipal Corporation.
Health department is negligent
Baba Kamble told that he inspected the Pimpri Tipu Sultannagar, which was painted on behalf of the Municipal Corporation. During this, the citizens here complained of problems. The condition of public toilets in the area is poor. Women and citizens are suffering a lot due to the collapse of the doors. The health department is negligent in removing the clogged drains, the drains are blocked at places and foul smell is coming from it. During this time the outbreak of diseases seems to be increasing. There is a lot of problem with the garbage. Health department vehicles do not come here to collect garbage. There are more than 70 slums in Pimpri-Chinchwad town with this one slum. For the past many years, the people living in these slums have not got any facilities.
The problem of slums is not being given attention
For their convenience, continuous follow-up has been started through the organization. We have repeatedly demanded that the five hundred square feet house be rehabilitated, but these demands have not yet been considered positively. Many such problems trouble the slum dwellers. Far from their solution, the corporation is spending on unwanted schemes. At present, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is making fun of the slum dwellers in the name of Rangrogan. At present crores of rupees are being spent on various activities under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The picture is that the city will look clean from above, but the problem of slums is being ignored.
