Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit. According to media reports, Saudi Arabia has announced 118 humanitarian projects worth more than US $ 123 million for food security, health, education and clean water during a two-day visit to Imran. Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeh said that this aid has been announced in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic. He said that the Kingdom has provided medical and preventive assistance of more than US $ 1.5 million to combat the epidemic.
Discussion on dealing with extremism with Crown Prince
Imran met Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed al-Othemin, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during the Saudi visit and discussed developments in the Islamic world. During this, Imran discussed the situation of Muslims in non-OIC countries and other issues of OIC, including the issue of fighting Islamophobia. At the same time, Imran held a summit meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia. During this time, the two leaders discussed increasing economic and trade relations and tackling the challenge posed by extremism.
Saudi had increased Imran’s tension by asking to pay the debt
Significantly, Saudi Arabia raised the concern of Imran Khan’s government a few months ago. In fact, Pakistan, along with Malaysia, tried to create a rival block outside the OIC. However, before Pakistan could participate in the summit of this block, Saudi Arabia warned him of the consequences. Relations between the two countries also became tense when Riyadh said that Islamabad should pay its three billion dollar debt as soon as possible. Due to this, the Imran government’s hands and feet swelled because the government treasury is lying empty.
