Nagpur. On Monday, Unit-3 of the Crime Branch raided two godowns of a pan masala businessman in Gandhibagh and seized goods worth Rs 9.80 lakh. Police have detained Kailash Omprakash Sarda (50), resident of Thakkar Building, Handloom Market. The police had received information that Sarda is involved in the business of flavored tobacco and pan masala on a large scale. Based on the news, the police raided the Poonam Janaki building located in Sudam street of Itwari. On searching the warehouse, fragrant tobacco and pan masala of a well-known company were found. The action was informed to the FDA.
On the report of FDA officials, a case was registered under various sections and Sarda was taken into custody. In the meantime, the police also raided the Niklas Pan Palace located near the Niklas Temple. It is said that tobacco and pan masala were being sold openly at the panthela.
The police seized goods worth Rs 2,500. Under the guidance of DCP Chinmoy Pandit and ACP Roshan Pandit, Inspector Pradeep Rayannawar, API Pawan More, Madhuri Nerkar, Head Constable Ishwar Khorde, Ramchandra Karemore, Shyam Anguthalewar, Vijay Srivas, Dashrath Mishra, Constable Anoop Taywade, Satish Pandey, Santosh Chaudhary, Mangesh Madavi , Deepak Lakhade, Varsha Hatwar and Firoz Sheikh took action.

MIDC police also raided the godown of a pan masala businessman on Monday night and seized goods worth Rs 5.48 lakh. The arrested accused include Gadgenagar resident Rahul Anil Jaiswal (30) and Anil Shatrughan Jaiswal (53). MIDC SHO Umesh Besarkar had received information that Jaiswal has stored pan masala and flavored tobacco on a large scale in his godown located in Yashodharanagar area of Hingna Road. Despite having a school nearby, goods are sold from the warehouse. Based on the news, the police raided Jaiswal’s warehouse.
On investigation, goods worth Rs 5.48 lakh including tobacco and pan masala of various companies were found. The action was informed to the FDA. A case was registered against both of them under various sections. API Ramesh Hattigote, ASI Rajaram Dhore, Head Constable Nitin Javlekar, Nutan Singh Chadi, Ismail Naurangabade, Rakesh Tiwari, Deepak Sarate, Sunil Bais, Dharmendra, Praveen, Ritesh and Fahim took action under the guidance of Inspector Besarkar.
