John Kerry, the special envoy of US President Joe Biden, will visit India, Bangladesh and the UAE to discuss the climate crisis on matters related to climate change. The Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday that Carrie preceded the ‘Leaders’ Summit’ organized by US President Joe Biden on climate change from 22–23 April and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) later this year. Will travel to these countries for discussions on this issue. However, Kairi will not meet with the Pakistan leadership, which is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world in terms of climate change.
Carrie tweeted that I am excited about having meaningful discussions with friends in Emirates, India and Bangladesh to deal with the climate crisis. US President Joe Biden has invited 40 world leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for a ‘Leaders’ Summit’ to be held for the purpose of talks on tackling climate change, but Pakistan is not named in this list.
Pakistan did not get ‘invitation’
Pakistan’s boycott from the summit has caused panic among many analysts. Many raised the question that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is paying special attention to the environment and global warming. The Foreign Ministry had indicated last week that Pakistan has not been called for the White House summit.
The purpose of this summit is to underline the economic benefits and importance of taking concrete steps to tackle climate change. The White House said last week that it would prove to be a milestone in the passage of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) to be held in November this year in Glasgow.
Who will be included?
According to the White House, apart from Prime Minister Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihida Suga, Brazilian President Zaire Bolsonaro, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi Arabia’s Shah Salman 40 leaders including bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson have been invited to the summit, which will be telecast live.
Apart from these leaders, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from South Asia and Bhutan Prime Minister Lotte Tshering have also been invited to attend the conference. The White House said the main goal of this summit and COP 26 is to accelerate efforts to keep global temperatures below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
America will announce 2030 emission target
He said that this conference will also outline these examples of how climate ambitions create good-paying jobs. How does innovative technology help develop and help vulnerable countries adapt to the effects of climate change?
The White House said that before the summit was held, the US would announce the ambitious 2030 emission target as its new national fixed contribution under the Paris Agreement. In this conference, 17 countries will participate, which are responsible for 80 percent of the emissions globally and they have 80 percent role in the global GDP.
