OTP norms for LPG cylinder home delivery: From November 1, a new rule is going to apply in the case of home delivery of LPG cylinders across the country. From next month, customers will have to provide one-time password (OTP) to get home delivery of LPG cylinder. Only then will they get a cylinder. The OTP-based delivery process is to strengthen security.
Actually, petroleum companies have decided to implement the delivery authentication code (DAC) system for home delivery of gas cylinders from 1 November. The purpose of this step is to stop the theft of the cylinder and ensure that the cylinder reaches the right customer.
This is how the system will work
Under the DAC system, when the customer books the gas cylinder, the OTP will come on the registered mobile number of the customer on successful booking. The delivery executive who comes to deliver the LPG cylinder will have to tell that OTP to the customer. The delivery of the cylinder will not be complete without this OTP. If the customer’s mobile number is not registered/updated, then the delivery executive will update it in real-time i.e. at the same time, after that the code will be generated. In the case of commercial cylinders, OTP based delivery system will not be applicable.
The new process will be implemented in the first 100 smart cities
The DAC process for home delivery of gas cylinders will be implemented in the first 100 smart cities. Its pilot project is going on in Jaipur. To ensure that the delivery of LPG cylinders continues without interruption, it is necessary that the customers update/register the necessary information such as the mobile number and home address before implementing the DAC process.
LPG prices are revised on 1st of every month
Explain that the prices of LPG cylinders are revised on the first date of every month in the country. It is not necessary to increase or decrease the price every month, only the old rate can be increased for the next month. LPG cylinder is expensive or cheaper in November or it will sell at the current rate, it will be known only on the 1st.
