The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced to celebrate December 15 as “Retail Democracy Day”. This day has been declared by some big and major e-commerce companies in the country against continuing activities like economic terrorism in India’s e-commerce and retail trade. On this day, the District Collectors of the districts under all the states of the country will submit a memorandum addressed to the local merchant organization Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Retail democracy march” will be organized by traders in each district before handing over the memorandum.
In the memorandum, PM Modi has been requested to declare an e-commerce policy at the earliest. In this, a joint committee of traders and officials across the country should be set up at the central level, state level and district level to set up a strong and empowered E-commerce Regulatory Authority, to create a vocal on local and self-sufficient India. Representatives of government officials and businessmen should be included in these committees.
Some e-commerce companies are constantly breaking rules
In a joint statement, CAT National President BC Bhartia and National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that some big foreign e-commerce companies have kept their arbitrary attitude and have consistently violated the provisions of the government’s e-commerce policy. These include selling goods at prices below cost, giving huge discounts, controlling inventory of goods sold on the portal, compensating for losses on goods sold, compromising with various brand companies to get their products single-handedly in their portals. Selling etc. All these are clearly banned in Press Note 2 of the FDI policy of the government. But even then, these companies are selling these goods openly, due to which there is an atmosphere of unequal competition not only in India’s e-commerce business but also in the retail market. Due to this, it has become very difficult to run the business of small traders of the country whose resources are limited.

Wants to establish Indian retail market
Bhartia and Khandelwal said that if the same situation prevails, in the coming time, crores of traders of the country will have to lose their business and the employees of the traders will have to face unemployment. The country’s retail business is currently around $ 950 billion annually. Retail trade provides employment to about 45 crore people and the retail market accounts for 40 per cent of the total consumption in the country. To capture such a large and huge Indian retail market, companies all over the world are eyeing it and for this hidden purpose, e-commerce companies want to establish their monopoly on the retail market by doing all kinds of immoral business in India.
