New Delhi: Congress has put forth its stand on BJP’s allegation on the lapse in PM’s security. In the virtual press conference held on Wednesday, Congress’s national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that, “There was no lack in the security of Prime Minister Modi. Seeing the crowd in Ferozepur rally, the Prime Minister has made an excuse.”
Party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also said that instead of making allegations and counter allegations, the BJP and the Prime Minister should introspect on their “anti-farmer stand” and not tarnish the dignity of the Prime Minister’s post. At the same time, he claimed that using the road was not a part of the prime minister’s pre-planned program and Modi himself took the sudden decision to go by road.
Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala told reporters, “The BJP, seeing its defeat in Punjab and other states, is adopting such tactics which do not suit the post of Prime Minister. Today chairs were empty in Punjab, people did not reach. This happened because there is opposition among farmers and common people about BJP. In such a situation, rhetoric is being talked about by the BJP.
He said, “The Prime Minister was to go from Bathinda to Ferozepur by helicopter. He had no plans to go by road. When the Prime Minister came to know that the crowd did not come, he suddenly decided to go by road. In such a situation, security was imposed there in a hurry. Anyway, a large number of security personnel were already deployed for the rally.” “A few hundred farmers were protesting, so should they have been shot?” he asked.
Surjewala said, “There was no lapse in the security of the Prime Minister. It took 15 minutes to clear the demonstrators. In such a situation, the Prime Minister got an excuse… If the crowd did not come to the rally, then the rally was canceled on the pretext of security lapse.” He said that if the Prime Minister took the sudden decision to go by road, then the blame cannot be put on the Punjab government. He said, “You hold a rally, but when the crowd does not come, don’t make allegations by making excuses. Don’t try to take advantage by seeing defeat in Uttar Pradesh.
Rally canceled because there is no crowd
Attacking the BJP, Punjab government spokesperson Rajkumar Verka said, “There was no shortage of security arrangements during the PM’s visit to Punjab today. The allegations of breach of security are baseless. The truth is that the BJP rally was a flop show. When the PM came to know about this, he decided to return.”

Taking a jibe at the BJP, Navdeep Singh Bittu said, “Sons, mothers and sisters of Punjab sat on the borders of Delhi in cold, rainy and windy weather for more than a year. Today, on the arrival of God in Punjab, Modi and BJP workers were shown a small trailer of those circumstances. As they move towards Punjab, God will punish them.”
