Mumbai. The new variant of the corona virus ‘Omicron’ found in South Africa is continuously increasing the tension in Maharashtra. So far, the maximum number of cases in the country have been reported from Maharashtra. Due to which the government has been alerted. Meanwhile, seven more Omicron cases have been reported in the state on Friday. Out of which three cases have been found in Mumbai and four in Pimpri Chinchwad. After which the total number of Omicron cases has increased to 17 in the state and 32 cases in the country.
Of the three new cases in Mumbai, one case was found in Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi. After which the concern of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has increased. This person had returned from Tanzania. After which his corona test was done, in which he was found positive. The man’s sample was sent for genome sequencing, which revealed that he was infected with Omicron. It has not taken the corona vaccine as well as no symptoms of any infection are visible in it. He has been admitted to Seven Hills Hospital.

At the same time, out of 7 infected people who came today, 4 patients have taken both doses of corona vaccine. The age of the three patients from Mumbai are 48, 25 and 37 years respectively. All of them had traveled to Tanzania, UK and South Africa.
So far 32 cases have been found in the country. Out of which Maharashtra has the highest number of 17, Rajasthan 9, Karnataka 2, Gujarat 3 and 1 Omicron case in the capital Delhi. The government is emphasizing on contact tracing. Travelers coming from other countries including at-risk countries are being monitored.
