Mumbai. In Maharashtra, a new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, has caused havoc. According to the report of the National Institute of Virology, 50 new Omicron cases have been reported in the state on Sunday. With this, the number of Omicron infected in the state has crossed 500. Now the total cases of Omicron in the country have increased to 1,698. Of these, 580 people have been cured. The Health Department gave this information on Sunday.
According to the Health Department, out of 50 Omicron patients found in Maharashtra on Sunday, the maximum 36 have been found in Pune, while 8 in Pimpri Chinchwad, 2 in Pune Rural, 2 in Sangli and 1 each in Mumbai and Thane. After the arrival of new cases, the number of Omicron infected in the state has increased to 510. However, the good thing is that so far 193 people have become virus free among the Omicron infected.
